Joseph Friedman
Joseph Friedman is the founder and publisher of About Time. Joseph launched About Time after learning about successful prison journalism initiatives around the world, none of which existed in Australia. Following years of consultations with focus groups of currently and formerly incarcerated individuals and other stakeholders, Joseph established the company that now publishes Australia’s national prison newspaper.
Joseph works across the various areas of About Time, helping to create the monthly newspaper, fundraise for the organisation and pursue future initiatives. He is also a freelance journalist, with stories in The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Saturday Paper, among other publications.
Joseph was the US correspondent for The Law Society Journal during the 2024 Presidential Election. He was previously a solicitor at Allens, and he has worked and volunteered at several criminal justice organisations around the world.
