My name is Julian,

‍

To all my brothers and sisters, this is my 6th time in prison in 5 years.

‍

I spent the last 3 months in 23 hour lockdowns, 3-out in a cell built for one person. Thankfully I am now in a 2-out and got my job at the prison bakery.

‍

Over the past 5 years I have completed numerous courses and obtained tickets for forklift – working at heights, confined space, first aid, and test and tag.

‍

I recommend to all prisoners to apply for education short courses. I was never good at school, but with the help of the prison education and employment coordination I was chosen as student of the year in 2024, which was a complete shock as I never achieved anything in my younger years.

‍

So this time I get out I will get a full time job and will stay drug-free into the future.

‍

My best advice is to take 1 day at a time and walk tall – better days are ahead.

Homelessness, addiction, no family, turned right back to what got us here in the first place. I think this is a huge problem for especially young vulnerable women to have more support on release!

Being an older gay man myself, I have noticed a lot of younger guys in here are maybe a little confused about their sexuality.
