Remembering Lorna

By
Jessica

Jessica writes from a prison in QLD.

'Bird's Eye View' by Drae, $250, #5718, 40cm x 50cm, acrylic on canvas, available to purchase at Boom Gate Gallery

To About Time,

Approximately one month ago, Lorna was released from SQCC. On 15 July, we got the devastating news that she’d passed away. She always stuck up for the underdog and fought against the bullies.

She was an advocate for us girls, always fighting for a better world, but she was also my best friend, and I’ll miss her every single day.

I wrote this poem and thought it’d be nice to share because Lorna was loved all over.

Rest in peace, Lorna AKA Bonnie

From Jessica at SQCC.

An ode to the beautiful Lorna:

Feel no guilt in laughter

She knows how much you care

Feel no sorrow in a smile

That she’s not here to share

You cannot grieve forever

She would not want you to

She’d hope that you would carry on

The way you always do

So talk about the good times

And the ways you showed you cared

The days you spent together

All the happiness you shared

Let memories surround you

A word someone might say

Will suddenly recapture

A time, an hour, a day

That brings her back as clearly

As though she was still here

And fills you with the feelings

That say she’s always near

For if you keep those moments

You will never be apart

Lorna we love you deeply

You’re forever present in our hearts

Rest in peace, Lorna
