Submissions from Inside

We encourage people who are incarcerated to share their experiences and write for About Time. Their contributions are the centerpiece of the paper. We will publish their letters, stories, poetry, reflections, investigative pieces, art, jokes, cartoons, puzzles and anything else.

Joe Gough for The New Yorker

Please let your friends and family in prison know to write to us at:

We welcome freelance writers on all topics for the paper.

We are particularly interested in formerly incarcerated writers, their friends and family, and writers with interest and/or experience in criminal justice or health. However, all submissions are encouraged.

You may be a criminal justice journalist, a community organisation or a passionate member of the community. You may be a guard, librarian, prison officer or public official.

Whoever you are, whatever you wish to write — we welcome your contribution.
