Hi my name is Kyra and I’m 27.
It’s my first time in jail, currently serving a sentence of three and a half years. The hardest part was being on remand, not knowing and not having a release date to tell loved ones.
So to everyone on remand, I know it’s hard but hang in there. This broken system can’t keep us forward and even though I’m now sentenced, and I think it’s a long time, I think about others doing even longer.
We will all have our freedom one day, so until then keep your head up, you got this and take it one day at a time.
