The Bear on My Back

By
Kelly

Kelly writes from Wellington Correctional Centre in NSW.

Hi all,

I'm always reading your paper. I'm currently on remand, applying for bail in two days. Currently in Wello for two days, but have been in Broken Hill women’s wing for two weeks before Wello.

I've decided to send in a picture of this sketch I have done. It's called ‘the bear on my back’. It’s the heavy weight of guilt and also the scary parts of myself I keep secured to me when I'm in protective mode. I may look scary but I'm cuddly and feminine generally at most times.

Thank you!

Kelly

Autism and Mental Illness: Prison Isn’t the Right Place

By Garry

I would just like to mention a few things I’ve noticed around prison regarding inmates with both autistic and mental illness traits. Who says these inmates are right to go to prison and not a hospital?
